More Than Your Average Trainers
All of our Certified Personal Trainers are also experienced rehab professionals, and have worked extensively with people living with Parkinson’s Disease. If you’ve already had physical therapy but been discharged, or you go to the Parkinson’s Classes but wish the program was more tailored to YOUR abilities, personal training is for you.
Exercise is important for everyone but its especially important if you are living with Parkinson’s Disease. Exercise can slow the progression of PD, improve mobility, cognition and mood. Also there are certain types of exercise that should be part of every Parkinson’s exercise program….
- Rotational Movement
- Reciprocal Movement
- Rhythmic Movement
- Whole body “big” movement
- Preplanning or sequential coordination
- Cognitive (or duel) task
- Flexibility
- Strengthening with focus on extensor groups (this is especially if you participate in a flexion based exercise class like biking or boxing)
- Balance exercises
- Vocal projection
If you need a program with all these components tailored specifically to your level of mobility, contact us.
